The whip tricks also belong to the air tricks, but unlike the raleys etc., the flight phase is not initiated by massive edging and releasing the line tension, but by quickly rocking from heel-edge to toe-edge or vice versa - as with an ollie this creates a little wall of water from which you can pop yourself into the air. Due to the whipping movement, these tricks are always accompanied by a front roll or back roll movement.

The rocking from heel-edge to toe-edge with a back roll is called Bel Air, this is the much better known variant. With enough airtime, an FS180 can initially be installed in addition to make it a Bel Air to Fakie. The reverse release by rocking from toe-edge to heel-edge including a front roll is then a Ben Air - in combination with an FS180 called Egg Role.

With enough air time and body control, the basic movements can also be combined with a BS180 rotation as Bel Air to blind or Egg Mobe. Even more difficult is a Bel Air with a FS360 rotation that is performed ole, i.e. stretched out over the head without a handle pass; this is based on the (Kicker) Whirly Bird and is called a Tweetie here.
